no worries, mon

Seriously...no worries, mon. We were in our own little paradise for seven days with NO KNOWLEDGE of the crime sprees happening in Kingston. No worries, we're home safe and sound and had no clue that a drug lord was running around town bombing police stations with mortar bombs. The only thing that caught my attention the whole week we were there was--on Friday, the military showed up outside our resort's gates and stayed there all day. Being from a military background, I didn't put as much thought into it as I should have--but like I said, we're all back--safe and sound, relaxed and wishing we could go back tomorrow!! It was so perfect!

I promise I'll post pictures very soon. I have TONS of them!!

Just wanted to let blog land know we're here--back in good ol' Rock Town...

P.S. I'm now officially a Raff gal after driving around town ALL DAY long. :)

5/14/10--one month tomorrow

So. I keep staring at the calendar and seeing that day approaching. The 15th. Tomorrow at 2:45 pm will be exactly one month to the minute that I received the devastating call about our friend Steve. It just keeps going over and over in my mind. I can't believe it will be a month in less than 24 hours that he has been gone.

This past month has really shown us all how much Steve really meant to so many people. He touched so many lives during his short life--brought so many smiles and so much laughter. Every time Tim's phone rings I expect it to be Steve--calling about sports or asking what we're up to. I keep seeing him around town, catching glimpses of him here and there.

I go back to the morning of my wedding quite often in my head. It was storming like crazy and though I was about to begin the happiest day of my life, I felt myself quite sad. I was the only person awake in the house, so I went to sit out on my front porch and listen to the rain. I kept thinking about Steve and worrying about Tim. Why did this have to happen? The rain briefly stopped and an overwhelming calmness washed over my body. I knew at the instant, that though our friend was not with us physically, he'd be there with us in every other way. The calm lasted the rest of the day and into the night. Thank you for the calm Steve. It was a calm only you could bring.

About a week after the wedding, I finally got a chance to sit down and watch the video of the wedding ceremony. This may sound cheesy to some of you--and maybe it is...but I still get goosebumps thinking about it. After the storms, the sun came out and April 24 turned out to be a gorgeous spring day. The sun was blaring through the stained glass windows, our spirits were high. Watching the video, I noticed a blue light shooting from the ceiling to the floor, to the spot where Steve would be standing. I know it was just a reflection caused by the stained glass windows--but my heart and spirit believe that was Steve telling us he was there with us.

One month of many months. Always loved, never forgotten. RSJ.

Just so this is not a completely depressing post, here is another shot from our wedding. It's me and Tim during our first dance.

john-isms

My 3 (almost 4) year old nephew is full of them. I mean FULL OF THEM. The things that come out of his mouth are just hilarious. He is constant entertainment and always makes me laugh. It's hard to believe that this little man that is fearless was once our little NICU baby. He's such a little boy.

My SIL keeps a kind of impromptu diary of "John-isms" by just noting his quirky expressions as her Facebook status. I've been keeping up with a few and figured I'd share today. He's just way. too. funny.

• “If I had a wish, I would wish for…”My dad to come home!”
• John just told me he couldn’t hit the golf club ‘cause he doesn’t have an…ummmm…”x”. He meant “tee.”
• “do thunderstorms have legs?”
• While being put to bed he said, “are tornadoes like ghostes? I don’t want that ghostes to come to my house.”
• John, where’s your daddy? “Memphis?” No John, he left in his cammo. “Oh, he’s playing Army! With all the Army guns!”
• “What my mommy does best…gives me grapes!”
• John came running into the kitchen this afternoon and said something is really wrong with the potty. He said he thought “somebody” put a diaper in there and flushed it, but it was not him! He blamed it on Lizzy who was in the kitchen with Helen.
• Today, John thought he needed to race Lizzy to the car and made a huge dent in a minivan (with his door). That was a fun phone call…and probably another $100.
• “My mommy always says…I love you and snakes are bad.”

While looking through the professional photos that are being posted right now, he was running around before the wedding with the ring pillow. So, that naturally caused me to think he had it when he walked down the aisle. Well, after close examination, I see now, that the ring bearer was not bearing any pillow (I would never let him be responsible for my rings, tee hee hee) while walking down the aisle. AND...there is a shot (you have to look hard) of him looking down into the baptismal (he wasn't supposed to be near that!).
There is NEVER a dull moment when he is around...our own little tornado. :)

5/12/10

The picture is a shot of the Cathedral where we got married. How cool is the shot of the moon in the background?

Not much to report...just waiting for the day we get to jump on a plane and go to Jamaica to celebrate our honeymoon. It's getting closer!! Tim is so excited that he doesn't have to wear a business suit at all for seven days.

Our photographer started uploading our pictures of our wedding day. The pictures that are already uploaded are fabulous! I'm so thrilled with the work they did. I love, love, love them all!

blocked.

Ok, so I just made a tragic discovery. My work has BLOCKED blogger.com from my computer. I just don't know what to do with myself. It is a tragic, tragic discovery! It means I have to be more diligent while at home at updating my blog. I wouldn't want to let Uncle Brian down. ;)

Ok, I may or may not get a nasty comment on this post for that last statement, but I'm ready. I AM a part of the family now and I apparently wasted NO time letting Uncle Brian know that! (exum...serious about St. Patty's 2011!!!)

I have been collecting words of wisdom by a three year old, which I intended to be my next post, which of course is saved to my desktop at work...so it'll have to wait. But my little ring bearer is full of them...and I promise I will post them soon. As soon as I remember to send them to my personal email account.

The picture below is yet another "sneak peek" of all the photos that are headed my way. Everything my photographer has sent me has been nothing but amazing--and I can't wait to see them all. Ah...toying with my emotions. Anywho...the below picture is a shot of our "private time" before the wedding...we decided to see each other before the wedding to knock out all the standard pictures we "had" to take...here, we're sharing a little moment. So sweet.

sneak peek

Well hello everyone! I haven't been purposely avoiding the blog--I've just found that I've been either really busy or really tired and blogging is the last thing on my mind.

Tim and I are going to welcome our first house guest as a married couple on Monday--and I can't tell you how excited I am! (so I've been frantically trying to get the house back to some normality!). In high school we had tons of foreign exchange students attend Hall and I became really good friends with a guy named Michael (from Switzerland). Well, Michael is coming back to the South for the first time in 11 years--and Tim and I have offered him our guest bedroom. It'll be so much fun to see him again!

Still no professional photographs, but our photographer gave us a sneak peek Sunday after our wedding. Thought I'd share:

My SIL got this with her phone. LOVE IT!!!

On Monday after the wedding, Tim and I took the bouquets to my grandmother's (and namesake) gravesite. I know she loves them...how couldn't she? They were BEAUTIFUL!
