i'm with miller

Well, this has nothing to do with summer equals. But, I feel that this family needs as many prayers as it can get, and if I still have any followers, I hope that you'll lift them in your thoughts and prayers tonight and the many nights to come.

On March 28th, the Woodruff family welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Miller McNeil Woodruff. In April, this family learned that this beautiful baby boy has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, SMA.

The strength of this family and of their friends amazes me each and every day. I know Miller's mama from our sorority...she was in the class above me and welcomed me always with open arms. I ask that you pray for this family, for Baby Miller's comfort, for his big brother's understanding, and for his Mama and Daddy's strength. If you would like to learn more about the Woodruff family, please visist their blog: The Woodruff Family

6.16.11-summer equals...

Today I'm just going to post pictures that I have borrowed of V's wedding. It was SO MUCH FUN...just a little warm. No projects today. I didn't want to get too involved in one then have to quit mid-afternoon. I'm going to hang out with some teacher friends this evening (we're going late afternoon to beat the 5 o'clock rush--because we can!). I still have plenty of projects, which include cleaning the poor office that has been severely neglected since BEFORE MY wedding, sealing a crack in the bathtub (this job has made me much more brave when it comes to DIY) and...I think I'm going to take a shot at cake decorating. I know random...but...there is a reason. I'm going to wait until V gets back from paradise to take a crack at the last one, I'll need her patience to get through it!! Hope you enjoy the pics!

Rehearsal...

Sweet pic of Mama and V...

This picture makes me laugh out loud. If you know the three of us, you know that this picture is a classic representation of us. Me and Marlo talking...in unison...and V making an annoyed face. I wonder what we were saying? Gotta love sisters. =)

V and Nick's First Dance.

Daddy/Daughter Dance. They danced to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." The SWEETEST story ever...earlier in the day, at the hotel, as we were getting ready to go to the church, Daddy was playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on his guitar. Oh Daddy. ;)

Did I mention that it was HOT? Hottest June 4th in Arkansas history. And the reception was a garden reception??? Yep. Hot. Hence, the glowing sisters below...taking a photo break on the dance floor.

"Nom. Nom. Nom. I'm going to eat you!" I wonder...why on earth do so many people get pictures of me looking like I'm about to take a bite out of something/someone??? Leah looks amused.

6.15.11-summer equals...

Looking at some of these pictures, I'm embarrassed I have let these areas get this unorganized!! BUT...summer equals...time to fix that problem!! :) Below is what I did today.

This is our turn-table cabinet before. This particular cabinet is the source of A LOT of my break downs in the kitchen. This guy probably has NEVER been cleaned out, and was just SO cluttered. So, after my trip to The Container Store...

It now looks like THIS. Alphabetized and all...

And here is the third "pantry" cabinet (MAN, I really wish I had an actual PANTRY). This thing is the "collect all cabinet." It gets whatever I can't find a spot for...and after neglecting it for three + months, here is the result:

But...have no fear. I tackled that mess today and it now looks like this (ahhh...now, that's better!!)

So...because my Type A personality is in overdrive these days...I decided that I would try to get a grasp on our scheduling as well. AND...I color-coded it! :)

Finally, here is a view of a storm in East Arkansas, visible from our back deck during sunset. If it wasn't so hot outside...I'd say, this is pretty perfect. Gotta say I am loving my summer days thus far!

6.14.11-Summer Equals...

Here's the first entry of my "Summer Equals" Series:

Been busy around the house lately catching up on projects that have been SO neglected since about...well...forever. :)

Today I tackled (some of) the kitchen cabinets. We have very little storage space, so I'm trying to figure out a way to utilize the space more. I visited The Container Store and got some stuff to help "stack" (and utilize) cabinet space. I still have several more cabinets to do--but not bad for day one. :)

After-Pantry Cabinet #1 (I still need some more food containers so I can get rid of all the chip bags!)

Finally, just noticed I never updated anyone on school, scores, etc. WELL...I PASSED the final Praxis with a 185, which got me an Excellence Award of Recognition (which isn't anything but a piece of paper and bragging rights, but I'll take it!). I graduated UALR with a 3.9!! I now have a Masters in Education!! Woot woot! Mrs. V and I both finished our Masters program this May, so we had some proud parents!! :)
