snow days of February

EH....better late than never, right? This February we had several snow days...the first was a tease (Feb. 4th...of course, always around my birthday), but the second was a whopper for us here in Arkansas. We got 7" at my house...it ranged around the state anywhere from 3" to 22"!!! Crazy! Here are some pics.

Kate came down (we live in the same 'hood) to sled with me!

Ty enjoyed romping around.

Our deck.

7"...I was REALLY glad I don't live in NWA (they got up to 22")

On Feb. 4th (the tease), the family packed it up and headed to V's house. Here are the "kiddos" playing in V's backyard.

Ty and Pip got to come play in the front yard with Kate et al.

playing catch up.

oops. It seems I have been MIA for awhile now, which is not the way I want to start 2011 with my sweet little blog. So, here's playing catch up.

Christmas was fantastic. 2011 has been fun thus far.

I got to go cheer for my Razorbacks at their very first BCS game appearance (though the loss was heartbreaking, I'm SO proud of the Razorbacks for their awesome season).

I have started a new job, which I went to all of two days, then...the SNOW came. Which means I have now also experienced my first TWO snow days.

Weddings are gearing up...friends are finding out (it seems left and right) that they will be blessed with little ones this spring and summer...So far, so good!

Here are some pics from Christmas and the Sugar Bowl (and my little snowman from SNOW DAY #1):

We lost one of my sister's good high school friends in 2010--she was a huge Razorback fan, so we had to bring her with us:

that pesky global warming ;)

Look what I woke up to this morning!!! A winter wonderland!! The roads are mostly slush right now...which should make for interesting road conditions once it's night time and below freezing temperatures. They're calling for possible snow showers until 1 am. I know that our snow is nothing like what our friends in DC are experiencing...but I can't remember the last time we had snow fall like this!! Tim is probably not pleased. He's supposed to be flying in tonight from New Orleans. I kind of REALLY doubt that will happen! Maybe that is his karma for leaving me on Superbowl Sunday. ;)
Also--for those of you that click the link of the post title (MOM), I posted pictures from my Superbowl party in the post before this one.

This picture was taken at 7:30 am (there's a comparison photo below of a couple hours later)

And just a couple of hours later...

Just a couple of hours later...

Only appropriate for a snow day after the Superbowl...my little Who Dat (Drew Dat) snowman

Ok...this picture was taken with my AWESOME new zoom. This is the next street up. These people were trying to get this car off this hill for three hours. I was quite entertained watching them. :)
My little home in the pretty snow!

My street. If you look close you can see the car stuck on the hill in the distance.

My Ty Ty is in LOVE with the snow. Here's a video of my little Bambi (check out his leaps and bounds!)

Ice Day

UPDATE: so...since my Moogie is sooooo funny....here's an update for you all. I know we like to overreact about winter weather...but today wasn't necessarily an overreaction.

Beginning of "Wave 2"--this accumluated in less than 15 minutes. (check out the first pic at the bottom of this post to understand the "accumulation").

I took this about five minutes ago. That, my friends, is NOT snow. Nothing resembling snow. Nope. That would be two layers of winter...first (and bottom layer) is ice, second layer is sleet, so it deceives the eye. Oh yes, you only THINK it's snow...

And since I started with this shot, figured I'd do a progressive for you all. Again, that is NOT snow. I've been slipping and sliding all over the place! Eventually, I'll post a video of Ty Ty playing in the winter weather. We apparently have yet another batch of weather heading our way. We'll see...

ORIGINAL POST:
OH! The weather outside is frightful...

Well, true to Arkansas form, I don't get to write "snow day." Nope. We don't get snow in these parts. We get freezing rain and sleet which makes the roads ICY ICY. I live in a neighborhood with lots of hills, so the ice is just no fun.

My company is "closed" today for the first time, I think, ever. Though, "we are encouraged to work from home if we're able." They totally know I have the capability of working from home, so I am expected to be logged in. Bummer. At least I can watch tv while working. :)

The first "wave" has cleared and we have nothing over Little Rock on the weather map right now...but we have another "wave" coming through...so, we'll see what the day ends with.

This is one FROZEN flag. I know, I know, very improper flag etiquette. Oops.

cirque du soleil

Last night Tim and I went to an iShares function at the Museum of Discovery. iShares is one of Tim's vendors (for 529s if any of you are looking to set up college funds for your kiddos!) and they are sponsors of the US Traveling Cirque du Soleil group. Which means...we got to see a couple of performances last night! Those performers are AMAZING! I told Tim we're definitely going to have to go see a full show as soon as possible! I haven't been feeling well this week and almost backed out of going--but we were both SO glad that we went. It was a lot of fun!

I snapped a few pictures with my phone and thought I'd share with you guys.

Tim is headed to Shreveport tomorrow for one of his college buddy's wedding. I'm going to stay in Little Rock because my girls and I are having our annual baking day tomorrow! Lots of yummy goodies! Then, we both pack up and head out to New Orleans on Thursday. We're SO excited! Tis the season to be busy, right???

2009 co-ed bunco

This past Saturday we had our annual "Co-Ed Bunco." One time a year, we each bring a guest to bunco. This year was smaller than it has ever been, but still just as fun! I love these girls so much!

Here are the only two pictures I got from the whole night (I was too busy having fun!).

The guys: Michael, Matt, Tim, Nick and Mitch

The girls: Lydia, Veronica, Me, Jess, Marlo, Kate, Nicole and Allison

Ahhhh...the semester is over and now the holiday rush has arrived. Tim and I have a couple of holiday parties to attend, my annual Girls Baking Day, a trip to New Orleans and then the holidays on deck. It'll all be fun...but for now, I must go rest up so that I'll be able to do it all!!

Thanksgiving, Weekend and Christmas Decor

Here are some pictures that I took over Thanksgiving and the weekend after Thanksgiving (and some Christmas decor!!). We WON'T discuss the football game...as usual, I didn't have much to say to Tim after the game, but that is becoming an annual event in our lives. ;)

I haven't decided if I'm actually going to send out Christmas cards or not...I have it designed, I'm just not sure I want to address them and all that is involved. I am studying for my first Praxis II (I have to take two of them!), plus finish up the semester, so I just don't know if I have the energy these days. Worse case scenario, I'll post the Christmas card here for all to see. :) ...I'll keep you posted.

I hope you enjoy the pics, we had TONS of fun on Thanksgiving and at a friend's wedding!
FamilyBaggo Tourney...of course, Tim won.

Daddy (aka Grandpa) is ready to chow down! (he's a PRO at loading up his plate!)

NOTE: The below picture is out of order and I have lost the patience to get it in its correct place. I've got a brand new computer and haven't quite yet learned the ins and outs of it just yet. Plus Tim keeps talking AT me about some Duke/Wisconsin basketball and really guys, my patience is running thin! So...this picture is OUT OF PLACE. Read the caption. Thanks!

This picture was taken BEFORE we ate. Funny thing is...the man (aka Daddy/aka Grandpa) didn't take a nap after he ate the plate (times two) pictured above!

Family gathering at Brother's post Thanksgiving dinner at Aunt P's.

Wilbur playing the guitar at Brother's house...

We went to celebrate a friend of our's wedding on Saturday night. Here are a couple of shots:

Shannon, Schermfield, me and Lauren!

Me, Schermfield and Shannon

Group shot: me and Tim, the Schermfields, Shannon and Jeffrey

Again, with the note above, I have lost ALL patience with this computer tonight so I have NOT edited a single photo!! But here is a quick pic of me and the guy. After watching "the game." Aren't you proud that we can still snuggle for a picture even after Tejada misses a dag-gum field goal to lose a game?!?! (remind you of the Florida game anyone???)

Me and Schermfield. Loves her!!

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS!!!!! YAY!!!!!

Notice the candles...yes, they ARE black and gold and they DO have fleur de lis on them! I debated for awhile but just COULD NOT bring myself to taking down the Saints candles. SO...I incorporated them into my Christmas decor. Who Dat?!?!?

Playtime Pizza, White Water Tavern and V Day.

Tim and I had quite a busy weekend...

First, we started our Friday night at Playtime Pizza to help Will celebrate his 9th birthday. I think Tim and my brother had as much fun (if not more) as the 9 year olds!! John John loved the go carts and skee ball...Lizzy just liked people watching.

Probably the only decent shot I got of hyped up Will!!

Self Portrait...

I didn't get many pictures of Will...

John John is ready to ride the go carts!

...so is Tim!

Seriously. Go carts. Now.

Daddy and John John getting ready to ride!

Vroom-Vroom.

It was exhausting being so cute!!

After we finished up at Playtime Pizza we went home and got ready for birthday outing #2. This time, it was a "grown up" outing...to celebrate Tim's fraternity big brother, Nathan's big 3-0. We started the evening at White Water Tavern. For those of you that are familiar with this place, enough said...for those of you that don't know about it...well. Think hole in the wall type of dive.

This used to be a Golden Tee...now it's apparently a ?

BTW...pictures are taken with my iPhone so not awesome lighting...below is Rich, James and Nathan. Rich and Nathan had the exact same shirt on...James was wearing a striped version of the shirt...so we had a good time with the fellas dressed alike!!

For Valentine's Day Tim and I invited Veronica and Nick over. We grilled out steak, had my "famous" asparagus, sauteed mushrooms and twice-baked potatoes. Yummy, yummy!! Later in the evening, V and I uploaded New Kids on the Block and had a good ol' time serenading our boys.

Tyson was determined to fit on the couch...

Veronica apparently has something important to say...

Tim enjoys playing with Zeus...Jason Alley stopped by to hang out while Amanda was catching up on Grey's Anatomy.
