ghosts for thought...

Well, we know Halloween is just around the corner...in the spirit of the ghoulish holiday, I figured I would post about ghosts.

So, last night, someone on FB posted this comment:

"I believe in ghosts and hauntings and spirits...but I also believe in heaven and hell....how does that work...if I don't believe in an in between world, how can I believe in ghosts?"

I replied: "Kind of explains purgatory in a way, doesn't it?"

In which someone else asked: "having said that do you think some stay in a state of purgatory for forever or at least until the end of time?"

So I replied this...."Me? I'm not sure. Maybe you stay until you have accepted you are no longer a physical being and you have a new place to go (be it heaven or hell) if you never accept you are no longer physical, it is quite possible you stay in a state of purgatory for all time..."

I should have finished with...maybe you're NOT supposed to go to heaven (or hell) until you have completely accepted you're no longer a part of this earthly world.

Anywho...thought I would see if anyone wanted to discuss this interesting topic in the spirit of Halloween. I surely hope so! I love good conversations and people's opinions on this matter truly fascinate me! :)

10.25.10

So...on Saturday morning, Tim surprised me with this precious little gem. Isn't he just the cutest, most random man sometimes?? I love my new Halloween decoration!!

On another note, a day late...but Tim and I have officially been married for six months! I can't believe how fast time flies!! I still haven't changed my name everywhere...I guess I should get on that, huh? Is there a time limit on some of this stuff? :)

I have a super busy week ahead of me...boo...lots of school and lots of work. At least it will make the days fly by!

I'll end with this awesome quote I found. I love it--as I use similar phrases quite often at work--and now in school. Thought I would share with you--as it could easily be applied to our day to day living. Hope everyone has a great week, in case I don't get to blog in the chaos of what I have to get done this week.

10.15.10

As I type, the time reads 2:04 PM CST. And I know...that in just 41 minutes, it was exactly 6 months to the minute that I received the phone call informing me that we had lost our friend Steve. I can't believe six months have already passed that we have been without him.

We are healing and adjusting to this new life--though I know we'll never fully accept it. We have had very rough nights and very wonderful nights and a bunch of in-between nights...but his presence (or lack of) always is at the front of our minds. I don't know that that will ever change.

Our hearts are still heavy and we still miss him and mourn him as much as we did six months ago. What I wouldn't have done to have been able to pick up the phone and call him Saturday night.

Steve, Steve, Steve. Always missed, never forgotten.

We went to Fayetteville for the Arkansas/Alabama game. The boys looked great until the 4th quarter, then just handed the W to 'bama with turnovers, etc. AT LEAST I got to see one of my besties and her hubby!!

On October 2nd we had friends over to watch football, eat BBQ and celebrate Tim's last birthday in his 20s. It was a great weekend!

V and I heard a strange noise coming from the bedroom. When we went to investigate, this is what we found. Silly kiddos.

friendship-part 2

First, let me say, to all of you that sent me messages and commented, thank you so very much for your kind words and support. I truly appreciate it.

With that said, I have been thinking that I should cover the WONDERFUL side of friendship as well. That previous post was about one bad situation I have been going through--I had to release my thoughts and feelings somewhere--why not here? But, I got to thinking...why focus so much energy on the negative? Why not focus on the positive?

The positive such as:

*The best friend that is also my husband, the one I get to go to bed with every night, and wake up next to every morning...the one that KNOWS it's ok to cancel the Housewives recording versus the Greys recording...the one that KNOWS I hate to do laundry?

*The best friend that is also my sister, the one it feels like weeks if I haven't spoken to her in a day and a half, the one that KNOWS what I'm going to say before I even think it?

*The best friend that has been by my side through the thick and the thin for YEARS...that shares humilating stories, tears, anger, the works...and never goes away.

*The best friend that has convinced the world that she IS my sister, that is there when you absolutely least expect it, at the most perfect time, to say the most perfect phrase. (AND...has FINALLY moved home!!!)

*The best friend that has lived 1000 miles away (South) for nearly 10 years that will still SNAIL MAIL me just to say "hi...love you...thinking of you."

*The best friend that has lived 1000 miles away (North) that texts me, calls me, drives those 1000 miles to be with me on one of the biggest days of my life...

*The best friend that is also my mother (enough said).

What about the family (both that I was born into and that I have acquired)--the good friends--and even the acquaintances? Why focus on one heartbreak when there are SO MANY JOYS.

My life is so filled with blessings I am overwhelmed thinking about it.

Last night, on the television show, Glee, there was a song that I felt was just for me. The episode last night was very emotional--but I felt as though it was sung just for me...straight to my heart and soul.

I indeed have Bridge(s) Over Troubled Water. And I thank God every day for it...

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
